Very important research by Prof. Jean Benoit Morin of University of Nice and partners focuses on the role of hamstring development in improving speed. A series of applied research studies by Morin and co-workers have succeeded in bridging the gap between researchers and coaches by exploring sprint mechanics and hamstring involvement. Read for example “Sprint Acceleration Mechanics: The Major Role of Hamstrings in Horizontal Force Production” (Frontiers in Physiology DOI: 10.3389/fphys.2015.00404). The information contained here could readily be employed by smart rugby, football and soccer coaches and phyisos to benefit in speed training but also hamtring injury management.
*Prof. Morin is one of several great speakers at the fourth International Global Hamstring Project hosted by nHANCE and YoYo Sports & Medical in Barcelona this fall.
